Location:Leicester
Main contractor:CPMG Architects
Products used:Affinity255 PUR, Classic Mystique PUR, Expona Commercial Stone and Abstract PUR, Expona Commercial Wood PUR, Expona Design Stone and Abstract PUR, Expona Design Wood PUR, Polysafe Apex
A variety of commercial vinyl floorcoverings from Polyflor were selected for a £3 million refurbishment project at Campus Centre, De Montfort University in Leicester.
Designed by CPMG Architects, the newly renovated Campus Centre is the home of De Montfort’s Student Union (DSU) and a hub for student life, including shops, cafes, break out areas and offices.

High performance Expona Design luxury vinyl tiles in Cool Grey Concrete were used throughout the student union building in circulation areas, corridors and staircases. Wood effect Affinity255 heavy commercial luxury vinyl tiles in the Seasoned Grey Oak, Cracked White Oak and Dappled Oak designs were also used as a contrast to the concrete effect flooring for Milly Lane’s café, The Coffee Hut and Sulets student accommodation office in the student union.

The Campus Centre, which opened in early 2017, also features flooring from Polyflor’s Expona Commercial, Classic Mystique, Polysafe Apex and Polysafe Verona ranges in toilet areas, restaurant kitchens and the student union’s music venue. All flooring was installed by Westcotes Flooring, working under main contractors Stepnell.

Cristina Riley, Interior Designer at CPMG Architects commented, “We chose to use Polyflor commercial luxury vinyl tiles and sheet vinyl flooring on this project as there was a great choice of designs to select from, and a wealth of specifications to cater to the varying needs of different spaces across Campus Centre.”
